The conference "Prevention of elder abuse"

On the occasion of 1 October, the International Day of the elderly, Caritas Barske nadbiskupije organized an international conference "Prevention of elder abuse" at hotel "Princess" in Bar.
At the conference were presented:
• The results of the research on violence against the elderly in Montenegro, conducted for the project by Center for Social Research, Faculty of Political Sciences. The results were discussed by Mr Mehmed Đečević - assistant at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Iva Malešević - associate at the Center for Social Research, Faculty of Political Science and Professor. dr. Agima Ljajević - lecturer at the School of Medicine and Faculty of Political Science;
• Examples of models of prevention of abuse and neglect of the elderly in Croatia, which was presented by  Mira Čokić, president of the Association for the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of people of the third age;
• Examples of models of prevention of abuse and neglect of the elderly in Serbia presented by Milutin Vračević, a representative of the Red Cross of Serbia;
• Models for protecting the rights of elderly at local level which were explained by Snežana Mijušković - Secretary of the Secretariat for Social Welfare from Podgorica;
• Models for protection of rights of the elderly in institutions, presented by Biljana Raicevic - head of social services in the retirement home "Grabovac" in Risan.
The present were also addressed by the representative of EU delegation Mladenka Tešić -task manager, as well as the project coordinator Marko Đelović who presented the results of the project in the past period.
The conference was held on 1 October, 2014.
